I believed that shadowing Dr. Nascimento, who is the Chief of Sports Medicine & Shoulder Surgery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, the Head Team Physician & Medical Director at Boston College, a team Physician for both the New England Patriots and the Boston Renegades, and an instructor of orthopedic surgery at Wellesley College, would expose me to the day to day life of a physician specializing in sports medicine. Because I want to be an orthopedic surgeon, he would be the perfect person for me to intern for. By shadowing Dr. Nascimento, I learned how to help people through athletic injuries. Shadowing Dr. Nascimento created a strong orthopedic foundation of helping people in a medical setting that I can build on through college, medical school, and residency.
